meruru04 415x500 1/8th scale Meruru (from Atelier Meruru) figure opens for pre orders on the same day Atelier Totori Plus (Vita) comes out

Today, November 29, marked the release of Atelier Totori Plus on the PlayStation Vita in Japan (it’s also on the Asian PSN store). Not only that, but in a mere spate of coincidence, today was also the day that Good Smile Company opened pre-orders for a 1/8th scale Meruru (from Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland) from figure maker Phat company.

Who’s Meruru, you ask? According to Good Smile Company’s Mikatan:

From the PS3 game ‘Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland’ comes a figure of Meruru, the main character in the game! The figure has a lovely bright and cheerful feeling to it, just like the original illustration by Meru Kishida. A figure of the 19-year old Totori that appears in Atelier Meruru is also currently in production to display alongside her!

Some pictures Mikatan provided in her preview of 1/8th scale Meruru:

It would have been a perfect storm had the 1/8th figure released today been Totori, of course. Only thing is, a 1/8th figure Totori in her 13-year-old form (that’s how old she is in Atelier Totori: The Apprentice of Arland and Atelier Totori Plus) had already been released a couple of months back.

That said, like Mikatan said, a new Totori figure is in the works, based on her 19-year-old appearance in Atelier Meruru – the third game in the series and a direct sequel to Atelier Totori – so that’s something to look forward to.

In the meantime, if you’re interested in owning a 1/8th scale figure of Atelier Meruru, be sure to make a pre-order at your favourite online or brick-and-mortar import retailer (Amiami ships internationally).

The 1/8th scale Meruru figure is slated for release sometime in May 2013.
