tsubaki yayoi BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasmas latest new character is the true form of Tsubaki Izayoi (Tsubaki Yayoi)

Arc System Works is not done adding new characters to BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma yet. This week’s issue of Famitsu magazine has revealed Izayoi (Tsubaki Yayoi), who will  join Bullet, Amane Nishiki, and Azrael as the fourth new character to be announced for BB:CP.

Izayoi (bigger pic) is described as the “true form” of Tsubaki Yayoi (2D sprite pictured above), and in combat she’s equipped with a “mode change” D-button ability – called Scarlet Justice – that lets her “shift” into a souped-up “Gain Art Mode” that will let her move faster and power up all of her special moves. Pressing D again while in Gain Art Mode will revert Izayoi back to her regular mode.

In their story, Famitsu recommends that Izayoi players first stay far away to build up a “Reishiki Gauge” (零識ゲージ) before shifting into Gain Art Mode (so I suppose you won’t be able to stay in GAM for an infinite amount of time in a real match).

The article also details some of Izayoi’s special moves:

Freedom Justice (フリーダムジャスティス)

We don’t know what this move does yet, but here’s what it looks like:

Sonic Saber (ソニックセイバー)

A high-speed projectile attack that you can use to zone your opponent. In Gain Art Mode, Sonic Saber fires more projectiles than usual, and can cause the opponent to be stunned when hit.

Justice Foraizer (ジャスティスフォライザー)

A high-speed thrust attack with a fairly long reach. In OverDrive mode, the power and reach of this move is further increased.

BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma is scheduled to hit arcades late November in Japan.

A PS3 port of the 2D fighter has also been announced to come sometime 2013.
