If you’re a fan of The Idolm@ster, Yuruyuri, and Kannagi, then oh boy, did the stars in the skies just completely aligned for you.
Comic REX’s The Idolm@ster manga series (the last item we detailed here in our previous story) will finally see its first “tankoubon” volume released early next year, on March 27.
(For those of you who may not be familiar with the term “tankoubon”, it’s the Japanese term for what in American comics is called a trade paperback – basically, a tankoubon volume collects the various chapters first published in weekly or monthly manga anthologies into a neat paperback book.)
To make the occasion extra special for Idolm@ster fans, publisher Ichijinsha has decided to release a special edition of the manga’s first tankoubon volume (特装版 THE IDOLM@STER 1 [コミック]) that comes with a mini-album CD, filled with cover songs from Yuruyuri and Kannagi: Crazy Shrine Maidens (both of which are Comic REX properties that have received anime adaptations) performed by the voice cast from Idolm@ster.
A total of five songs split between the two manga and anime franchises will be featured. From Yuruyuri are the tracks Yuriyurarararayuruyuri Daijiken (ゆりゆららららゆるゆり大事件) and My Pace de Ikimasho (マイペースでいきましょう or Let’s Go at My Pace).
From Kannagi, the songs are Motto Hade ni ne! (motto☆派手にね or Be More Flashy), Jun Ai Circulation (純愛・ジェネレーション, Pure Love Generation), and Ichiban Boshi (イチバンボシ).
The Idolm@ster manga series, illustrated by mangaka Mana (まな) and written by Tatsuya Takahashi who also penned the script for the anime, begins shortly after the 13th episode of the franchise’s TV anime series, and depicts various never-before-seen side-stories centred around the various idols, one at a time.
