With only a couple of days more to go before 2012 is done, it has come time once again for Tower Records Shinjuku to take stock of the past year in Anisong releases, and determine which CD releases made it out to the masses (and thus mattered) the most.
Although in Japan Tower Records is a powerhouse retail chain that specialises primarily in Western music (since, you know, it’s headquartered in Sacramento, California), the Shinjuku branch of the chain in particular is famous for being incredibly well-stock with Anisong releases, due to the efforts of its chief (and head of the Anime section) Ryo Bajima.
As such, Tower Records Shinjuku is pretty much regarded as the first and last word when it comes to Anisong CD rankings.
So without further ado, let’s look at the list of top ten best-selling Anisong CD releases, for the period between 12 December 2011 and 16 December 2012. We’ll start all the way at the top, beginning with LiSA and her smash-hit of a third album, LOVER“S”MiLE.
