Trailer for Makoto Shinkai’s newest anime short film, “Dare ka no Manazashi” (Someone’s Gaze) has been streamed on Youtube by Nomura Real Estate.
The trailer shows Aya “Aa-chan” Okamura, the main character, who has been working for two years at a company and living independantly on her own. The story revolves around Aa-chan, her parents, and her pet cat Mii-san.
The short is produced by joined collaboration with four companies, and singer-songwriter Kazusa will perform the theme song “Sore de Ii yo.” Narrator Fumi Hirano (Urusei Yatsura’s Lum) leads the cast with Satomi Hanamura and Shinji Ogawa. Nomura Real Estate will screen the short during “Proud Box Kanshasai,” a home living exposition which will run from 10th to 11th February at the Tokyo International Forum.
For those who aren’t familiar with Makoto Shinkai, Shinkai began his anime career almost single-handedly – being responsible for the writing, directing, and even voice-acting for his debut anime films “She and Her Cat” and “Voices of a Distant Star”.
He now works with CoMix Wave Films and other staff members on anime projects, like the memorable The Place Promised in Our Early Days, 5 Centimeters Per Second, and 2011’s Children Who Chase Lost Voices. Fans will be delighted while waiting for his upcoming anime feature film, “Kotonoha no Niwa“, which we had covered here.
