It seems like singing is a regular part of a seiyuu’s job, but once in a while, one seiyuu grows into a major singing sensation. This time, two popular seiyuu, Aoi Yuuki and Ayana Taketatsu, have united to take the music industry by storm.
The name of their unit is “Petit Milady” (PuchiMire for short), which is fitting for the two cute girls.
Aoi Yuuki played the roles of Victorique from Gosick and Madoka from Puella Magi Madoka Magica, and she also won the award for Best Lead Female in the 6th Annual Seiyuu Awards. Ayana Taketatsu played the roles of Kirino from OreImo and Azusa from K-ON!, and her first album will be released next month. They are two of the hottest young seiyuu these days, so to see them combining forces is a sight to behold.
Their formation was first teased when this video was shown on the television display at Akihabara’s UDX building with the words, “From two seiyuu no one could have imagined, a new unit is born”.
Today, the official announcement was posted on Universal Music Japan’s YouTube channel, as well as behind-the-scenes footage of the two girls. Unfortunately, they don’t sing in these videos, but we will get to hear them on May 15, when they release their debut single, Kagami no Dual-ism/100% Cider Girl.
It seems that people are already getting excited about the new unit, since their song Kagami no Dual-ism will be the opening theme of Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal II and 100% Cider Girl will be the opening theme of a new show premiering on April 7. If you’re also excited about petit milady, you can check out their homepage or Universal Music Japan’s YouTube page.
