SCANDAL will be collaborating with a robot to start on a project called ‘Robot Scandal’, it seems.
SCANDAL will be working together with ‘Robi‘, a robot designed by Takahashi Tomotaka, to create a new song and music video. The girls will be holding a live at Grand Front Osaka which opens in the Umekita district in Osaka on April 26, where they will perform the new song for the first time.
Tomotaka Takahashi is a roboticist and founder of Kyoto University’s ROBO-GARAGE since 1999 and creates humanoid robots known for their smooth, fluid motions and sleek appearance. Creating a number of humanoid robots entirely by himself, from concept through to production, Takahashi’s designs have been featured in art exhibitions celebrating the creation of Astroboy, Time Magazine’s Coolest Inventions of 2004 and promotions for Bandai, Panasonic and Pepsi. He has also worked with toy companies to produce relatively inexpensive robots for the hobby market, including those for Kyosho.
On the SCANDAL blog, RINA (Dr, Vo) says that, “I hope that Osaka will become an even greater city. Even though there are a lot of people who move in to Tokyo in order to make their dreams come true, however I’m certain that Osaka will become an area filled with opportunities too. I was born in Osaka, raised in Nara, and also formed a band in Osaka. Osaka will always be a special place and I want it to always be a lively city.”
