Bandai is set to reveal their most exciting product line in less than 24 hours, but some enthusiast Gunpla blogs have released information along with some 3D images of what is to be revealed.

While the original source is unknown, online hobby store Hobbysearch confirmed the news with the kit released for pre-order. Bandai has made noticeable changes in engaging consumers with their products, such as the release of Online Store limited items that are not available through stores or individuals outside of Japan – unless they obtain it through parallel imports or proxies.

rx78 2 00 361x500 Master Grade Gundam RX 78 2 Ver. 3.0 to be revealed?

Gunpla enthusiasts are divided about this ‘leaked news’, with some embracing it while others felt that it is just a shift from what many have seen in the Real Grade line ported over to 1/100 scale. The 3D images show the MG RX-78-2 Ver 3.0 fashioned very similarly to its RG counterpart, with exact decals to boot.

Some argue that despite the numerous RX-78-2 kits released alone in the Master Grade line (1.0, 1.5, 2.0, ver. One Year War), the 3.0 refresher is a much needed one. A couple of enthusiasts felt that there are plenty other Mobile Suits that needed kit revisions, such as Sazabi, Hyaku Shiki or the GP series. However, they were refuted by other enthusiasts that releasing a revision of the RX-78-2 is a much needed one, possibly backed by the good kit sales gathered with each revision.

Our insights over the announcement of the Master Grade technology refresher is a positive one, as evidently seen on the popularity of the Master Grade Nu Gundam ver Ka. Over the past couple of years, Bandai has opt for lighter yet sturdier plastic seen on the Real Grade and recent Master Grade lines, and invested in improving its multi-gate technology, allowing more parts of various colours to be moulded within a single sprue. The Master Grade line provides the best mix of detail and posability at a rather attractive price point, not to mention less work to be done to make the kit look great, be it painting it or simply filling in panel lines.

The Master Grade RX-78-2 Ver 3.0 will be out in stores this coming August, retailing at 4,500 yen.
