In this upcoming fantasy from the studio responsible for Minami-ke, the bad guy is defeated before the story starts, and the main character gets no fame or glory. Of course, the story isn’t that simple…
It was announced earlier this year that the light novel series Yuusha ni Narenakatta Ore wa Shibushibu Shuushoku wo Ketsui Shimashita (I Reluctantly Decided to Find a Job Because I Couldn’t Become a Hero) will join the ranks of light novels-turned-anime with really long names. The novel series is written by Jun Sakyou and illustrated by Masaki Inuzumi, and currently has five volumes, along with two different manga adaptations.
The story is centered around a boy named Raul who has always dreamed of becoming a hero and defeating the demon lord. For years, he trained to become a hero, but suddenly, news spread across the country of the demon lord’s defeat. Now that all of the heroes-in-training are unemployed, Raul gets a part-time job at a magic shop in the royal capital, where he lives an uneventful life until the arrival of a young, clueless trainee — who is the demon lord’s daughter!
“Fuhahahaha. You did well to arrive at my cash register, o customer!”
The latest issue of Monthly Newtype has revealed information on the staff:
- Director: Kinji Yoshimoto (Queen’s Blade)
- Character Designer: Tetsuya Takeuchi (Yomigaeru Sora: Rescue Wings)
- Series Composer: Masashi Suzuki (Minami-ke Okawari)
- Animation Studio: Asread (Minami-ke, Mirai Nikki)
We don’t have any dates or cast information yet, but the story feels like a reverse urban fantasy along the lines of Hataraku Maou-sama!, so anyone who’s interested in fantasy comedies like that should keep an eye on this anime.
