The sci-fi naval anime Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio was announced just earlier this week, and the studio Sanzigen has already revealed a 70-second trailer featuring warships and laser beams.
The anime Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio (Arpeggio of Blue Steel) is based on the manga of the same name by the duo Ark Performance. The story is set at the beginning of the 21st century, 17 years after the mysterious “Fog Fleet” appeared and conquered the oceans with their otherworldly weapons. The protagonist is a military cadet named Chihaya Gunzou, who becomes the captain of a submarine named the I-401(イ401) in order to fight the Fog Fleet.
In the following trailer, we get to see the Fog Fleet, the I-401, and Iona, a girl who is actually the I-401’s computer terminal.
Some of the staff members were also listed in the trailer:
- Director: Seiji Kishi (Angel Beats!, Persona 4 the Animation)
- Series Composition: Makoto Uezu (Devil Survivor 2 the Animation, Seikon no Qwaser)
- Music Composition: Masato Kouda (Monster Hunter series, Conception: Give Birth to My Children!)
- Animation Studio: Sanzigen (009:Re:Cyborg, Black★Rock Shooter)
We don’t know when Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio will air yet, or who voiced Iona in the trailer (it could be Aoi Yuuki, who voiced her in the drama CD), but it already looks like it might be an exciting military sci-fi anime.
