With a little help from an augmented reality app, that is.
Back in April, Japanese fashion chains Beams and Village Vanguard teamed up with Bandai to release a “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure OraOra Border T-shirt”, a horizontally striped shirt (the stripes are formed by the kana for “OraOra” written over and over) that’s part of Bandai’s Nextpets! line of “graphic t-shirts” that features an augmented reality element.
When used in conjunction with the Nextpets! AR app (available for Android and iOS), an AR marker embedded on the Bandai T-shirt let its wearer take a picture of himself with a character from the series the shirt’s design is based on – in this case, Jotaro Kujo’s stand Star Platinum from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 3.
The OraOra Border T-shirt appears to have been quite well-received. Over at Beams, the shirts were previously listed as out-of-stock.
But due to popular demand, Beams is issuing a second batch of the T-shirts, starting today at 9PM Japan time (GMT+0900 hours). If you live in Japan, or otherwise have a Japanese shipping address that you can do online shopping with, you’ll be able to purchase the shirts at this link.
Both the “White X Black” and “Black X Purple” versions of the shirt are available through Beams in this re-issue. Priced at 5,040 yen, including tax.
In addition to those two colour variations, the good folks over at Village Vanguard are also offering a third version that’s exclusive to them – “Black X Green”. Available from their online store here, beginning today. Also priced at 5,040 yen.
