They say that in order to make a good hero, you have to also come up with a great villain. Batman will always have the Joker, Superman will always have Lex Luthor, Harry Potter will always have Voldemort and Amuro Ray will always have Char Aznable to contend with.
A good villain doesn’t have to be a rival, a good villain doesn’t have to be strong, and a good villain doesn’t have to be really evil, in fact, he might be even thinking what he is doing is absolutely right. A good villain should be able to give readers or audiences that sense that he can give the hero some trouble, he can awe people to a degree that they will have something to think about right after the chapter or the episode is over.
