In the latest episode of Asami Imai’s Sing Song Gamer, the singer/voice actress tries her hand at Nippon Ichi Software’s biggest action-RPG yet. Watch her now to get a preview of the game (and see if Imai is actually good at it).
Anime and video game fans should recognize Asami Imai as the voice of Chihaya from The Idolm@ster and Noire from the Hyperdimension Neptunia series. As part of her radio show, Sing Song Gamer, Imai plays a game and gives her impressions every week.
In her latest feature, Imai takes on The Witch and the Hundred Knights (Majo to Hyakkihei), an upcoming PS3 game from Nippon Ichi Software. The company is famous for making strategy-RPGs, especially the Disgaea series, but The Witch and the Hundred Knights, a top-down action-RPG with massive environments and 3D character models, is remarkably different from anything they made before.
In this 9-minute video, Imai takes control of The Hundred Knights, a legendary undead warrior and the servant of the Marsh Witch Metallica. How will she fare?
First, Imai learns how to equip five different weapons and unleash them in a single combo. Each weapon gets a power boost depending on the order they’re placed in. Later on, she discovers the “Mystical Dodge” skill, which lets The Hundred Knights slow down time to dodge attacks. Also, as NIS fans should notice, the music is composed by Tenpei Sato, who created music for the entire Disgaea series.
Imai will give her impressions on The Witch and the Hundred Knights on her next radio show on June 29. You can listen to her on either Famitsu.com or the famitsutube channel. On a side note, Imai’s latest single, Hoshikuzu no Ring, was released on Wednesday, and you can listen to her as Noire in the upcoming anime Hyperdimension Neptunia or the PS Vita game Hyperdimension Idol Neptunia PP.
If you’re anxious to get your hands on The Witch and the Hundred Knights, you can pick it up on July 25, but if you’re still on the fence, you can get another look at the absurdly in-depth game in this initial trailer:
