In a press release 2K and 2K Marin are showing that they want to give fans more to play beyond launch content.
For those looking to purchase The Bureau: XCOM Declassified but aren’t sure just how satisfying or expansive the game will be, you can rest easy as the alternate 1962 timeline is set to receive DLC that features strong narrative elements.
The game, set to release for the Xbox 360, PC and Playstation 3 on August 23, takes place during the Cold War when fear and paranoia run rampant. It is up to Special Agent William Carter to lead a covert operation against invading alien forces of the extraterrestrial kind. The player in this 3rd person shooter will lead a small squad to defend humanity and keep the secret war under wraps. With an expansive storyline from the creators of the Minerva’s Den DLC for Bioshock 2, it is understandable that the story behind The Bureau cannot be limited to the main game.
The DLC content will be made available after the game’s initial launch to Xbox 360 owners first, with PC and PS3 owners to receive it shortly afterwards. Owner’s of all three consoles can receive a special downloadable mission, though, when it is ordered through select retailers. The mission, called Codebreakers, will start with enemy radio transmissions going silent. It is up to the player and their squad to bring the enemy facility back online, figure out the code, and of course, dispatch any enemy threats in the area.
As Morgan Gray, development director at 2K Marin says, “there are many more stories to tell about the early days of XCOM” which means players can look forward to a slew of exciting content. A trailer showing off the shooting action can be found on the official YouTube account of the company.
