akito2 Code Geass: Akito the Exiled episode 2 trailer released; announces yet another delayFinally! The official website for Code Geass: Akito the Exiled has streamed a trailer for the second episode in the four-part OVA series. However, with this good news comes some bad – the second episode will be delayed again. Originally, the second part was to be released this past spring, but was postponed til the summer. So I waited patiently, eager now that summer is here. But after another delay, the second OVA isn’t set to premier until September 14th.

Set between season I and season II of Code Geass, this story takes place right around the formation of the Black Knights and the comeback of Zero, who was previously thought defeated and dead. While the universe is the same, the story of Akito (voiced by Miyu Irino – Mobile Suit Gundam 00′s Saji Crossroad, Spirited Away‘s Haku) unfolds in the European Union, where we follow a group dubbed “W-0” wage war against the tyrannical Britannian Empire. The group is led by Layla Malkal, who is voiced by Maaya Sakamoto (Black Butlers Ciel Phantomhive, Monogatari’s Shinobu Oshino). As a huge follower of Code Geass, the fact that Akito the Exiled will only be four episodes is enough of a tragedy – having to wait longer for episode two is just cruelty!

While many cast and staff are returning, such as Takahiro Sakurai (voice of Suzaku Kururugi – my favorite character!), there are a few new members. Fumihiko Tachiki (Neon Genesis Evangelion‘s Gendou Ikari) will play Michael Augustus, and Takuma Terashima (Blood Lad’s Wolf) will play Ashley Ashura. See everyone’s work come together in the trailer:

For those of you who enjoyed Code Geass, but just cannot imagine the show without your beloved Lelouch, Suzaku, and C.C., never fear! These characters make appearances, and to be honest, the excuse to see Suzaku is one of the main reasons I’m watching Akito. In the meantime however, we can only anticipate the release of episode two by reigniting our obsession with the original Code Geass and staying up-to-date with the official website. Not into Code Geass? Lelouch vi Britannia commands you to watch!
