Do you know the singer who performed the opening theme of Sword Art Online? Or the duo formed three months ago by Ayana Taketatsu and Aoi Yuuki? Well, they’re both coming to Animelo.
Animelo Summer Live, Japan’s biggest annual anime song concert, will take place this year on August 23, 24, and 25. Seven more artists have been added to this year’s lineup, bringing the total count to a whopping 49! What do you think of the new artists below?
earthmind (performing August 23)
Composed of vocalist Erina Matsui, guitarist Ommy, and bassist Jun Takai, earthmind debuted in November of 2011 with the opening single of the OVA Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn Episode 4. They went on to perform Energy, the lively opening theme of this year’s anime Vividred Operations. earthmind’s first album, power of mind, will be released on June 19 and contain all of their singles to date.
Eir Aoi (August 24)
Eir Aoi held her major debut in 2011 with the ending theme of Fate/Zero, Memoria, and went on to sing Innocence, the beautiful opening theme from the hit anime Sword Art Online. Her first album, Blau, was released on January 30 and peaked at number 4 on Oricon’s charts. With her next single, Cobalt Sky, coming on June 26, she is a big name to look out for.
Luna Haruna (August 24)
Following Eir Aoi is Luna Haruna, whom Sword Art Online fans should know as the artist responsible for Overfly, the ending theme of the Fairy Dance Arc. She also works as a model for the fashion magazine KERA, and her third single, Kimi ga Kureta Sekai, will be used as the ending theme in the upcoming Monogatari Series: Second Season.
Eri Kitamura (August 25)
For ten years, Eri Kitamura has voiced a whole lot of characters, including Karen from the Monogatari series, Sayaka from Madoka Magica, and recently Mahiro from Haiyore! Nyaruko-san W. On top of that, she has sung many songs for anime like PapaKiki and Mayo Chiki!! It goes without saying that she is one of the most famous voice actresses of this generation.
Ayana Taketatsu (August 25)
If you’re a fan of K-ON! and OreImo, you should instantly recoganize Ayana Taketatsu as the cute voice behind Azusa and Kirino. Along with voicing cute girls, she started her singing career one year ago with her single Sinfonia! Sinfonia!!! and released her first album, apple symphony on April 10. Also, she loves meat, and she wrote her own lyrics to the song Rice to Meat You! (the one that goes, “I love beef! I love pork! Rock ‘n’ roast!”).
Youko Hikasa (August 25)
Anime fans should recognize Yoko Hikasa as the voice of Mio from K-ON! and recently Emi from Hataraku! Maou-sama. As the character Mio, she has sung in four singles and two albums, almost all of which reached the top five on Oricon’s charts. This year, she started her solo project with the ending single of Attack on Titan, followed by Owaranai Uta and a collaboration album coming next month, Glamorous Songs. Fans who liked her as Mio should look out for her future works.
petit milady (August 25)
The final artist announced today is the cute, little duo who joined forces barely three months ago, petit milady (puchimire for short). Composed of the huge, yet physically small voice actresses Ayana Taketatsu and Aoi Yuuki, the duo just recently released their debut single, Kagami no Dual-ism/100% Cider Girl on May 15. Together, these two talented girls are going to make waves in the anime world.
