2K and Firaxis Games have announced that they are bringing their award-winning strategy title, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, to the iOS.
The iOS version of XCOM is said to contain an experience similar to that of the PC, PS3, and X360 original. By that, what it means is that you’re pretty much getting the entire single-player campaign here – albeit with controls and features optimised for iOS touchscreen devices.
A future update to the iOS port will also add the PC and console version’s popular head-to-head multiplayer mode here.
Once the multiplayer patch is out, that’s basically more or less the exact same game you’re getting on the iOS as the PC and console versions (sans the expansions and updates).
Which is great for fans who’re dying to bring their XCOM with them everywhere they go (if you haven’t played XCOM, this is one of those games that make you go “just one more turn” and the next thing you know, it’s 6AM in the morning) as well as iOS gamers who’ve never been able to try the award-winning strategy a game simply because they do not have a gaming PC or a console (read our review of the game here if you’re unfamiliar with the title). It’s a win-win situation, and I wished more developers and publishers would do that.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown for the iOS will hit the iTunes app store this Thursday, June 20, priced at S$25.98 for the Singapore market.
The game app supports the following iOS devices: iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad mini, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5 and iPod touch 5th Generation.
