Clamp, the all-female Japanese manga artist group responsible for hit manga and anime series Cardcaptor Sakura and Magic Knight Rayearth, will be holding a special art exhibition in Kyoto from September 6 to 8, in conjunction with the Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair 2013.
It’s been 24 years since Clamp first made their debut, and so this art exhibition is a way to commemorate the well-loved manga artist group. Visitors who come will be greeted with numerous pieces of original picture art from a number of representive works from past (Cardcaptor Sakura, Magic Knight Rayearth) to present (Drug & Drop, xxxHolic Rei).
There will also be a few pieces of new art unveiled for the first time at the exhibition. Namely, illustrations that will be used in the social game Cardcaptor Sakura ~Sakura and the Mysterious Cards~, as well as some of the art that Clamp has created for Mizuki Tsujimura’s new novel series Haken Anime.
An anime screening will also be held on September 8 where Magic Knight Rayearth (TV anime episodes 19 and 48, OVA episode 1) and Cardcaptor Sakura (the movie) will be shown for free.
Some of the voice actors for Magic Knight Rayearth (Hekiru Shiina, Megumi Ogata, Jurota Kosugi) and Cardcaptor Sakura (Sakura Tange, Junko Iwao, Motoko Kumai) will be present for the screening. Naomi Tamura, the artiste behind Magic Knight Rayearth’s OP and Magic Knight Rayearth 2’s second OP themes, is also said to be making an appearance.
