Thousands of visitors flocked day 1 of the Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair 2013 which is considered Western Japan’s largest anime trade fair.
One of the event’s highlights may have been that gigantic full-size head of the Colossal Titan. Fans flocked to get their pictures taken with the massive head and the long lines on the Attack on Titan booth proved how popular the series really is.
The event also featured a booth by Shaft and just like Comiket, the booth sold out on the first day alone. One of the highest selling items from the booth is the 1/8 scale Madoka figure which really captures the essence of the old city of Kyoto.
The event also had some fun anime-themed food stalls which included the Shirokuma Cafe, Lawson and the Madoka Magica Cafe.
Several companies also set-up their own booths during the event like Frontier Works, Kodansha, Nippon TV and more
The Event started yesterday, September 7, 2013 and will only last until today, September 8. The city of Kyoto has gone to great lengths to promote the event and it included decorating its trains with several anime series.
