The live-action adaptation will be split into two movies, with the first part premiering in Japan on March 18, 2017, and the second part making its premiere on April 22, 2017. It will be based on Chika Umino’s multiple-award-winning manga series which follows the life and relationships of professional shougi player, Rei Kiriyama.
