Completed manga getting their own TV anime years after wrapping up may be a long shot, but they do happen from time to time. Manga like Parasyte, as well as Ushio and Tora, have proven that they could still get some very popular anime even if their own source manga series were completed ages ago.
In a new poll by animeanime.jp, the Japanese anime news site asked 1,171 readers to vote for which completed manga deserve an anime adaptation. Remember, these are completed manga, so if a series is still ongoing, they won’t count for this poll. Here are the Top 10 results:
10 – Soul Catcher by Hideo Shinkai
9 – M×0 by Yasuhiro Kano
8 – Kodoku no Gourmet by Masayuki Kusumi and Jiro Taniguchi
7 – Tonari no Kashiwagi-sa by Kinusa Shimotsuki
6 – Muhyo & Roji’s Bureau of Supernatural Investigation by Yoshiyuki Nishi
5 – Psyren by Toshiaki Iwashiro
4 – Yandere Kanojo by Shinobi
3 – Karakuri Circus by Kazuhiro Fujita
2 – Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam by Yoshiyuki Tomino and Yuuichi Hasegawa
1 – Sesuji wo Pin! to ~Shikakou Kyougi Dance-bu e Youkoso~ by Takuma Yokota
Gundam fans have long been asking Sunrise to adapt Gundam Crossbone, as well as its sequel manga like Steel Seven. However, Takuma Yokota’s Shounen Jump ballroom dancing manga managed to upset the mecha classic in the poll.
Completed classics like the supernatural manga, Karakuri Circus, as well as Yandere Kanojo and Psyren, round off the Top 5. So, which completed manga do you think deserves an anime adaptation?
