Meet the live-action Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure movie’s villain, Anjuro Katagiri, in these new still images
The upcoming live-action Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure movie will be following the events of Part IV of Hirohiko Araki’s manga series, Diamond is Unbreakable. This means that one of the film’s main villains will be none other than the stand-using criminal, Anjuro Katagiri. Now, new still images reveal actor Takayuki Yamada as the hardened criminal.
Previously, the movie’s staff revealed Jousuke and Jotaro’s actors together in costume for a few behind-the-scenes still images.
Kento Yamazaki was previously revealed in costume as Josuke Higashikata, the 4th Jojo and main character of the movie. They also revealed actor Yusuke Iseya in costume as the third Jojo, Jotaro Kujo. The live-action film will be adapting part 4 of the long-running series, and will be making its premiere on August 8, 2017.
The film will be directed by Takashi Miike (Crows Zero, Live-action Terraformars) and will be a co-production between Warner Brothers and TOHO. It aims to cover the entire fourth part, which follows the adventures of Jousuke, with Jotaro acting as his mentor. Because Part 4 is actually quite long, TBS producer Takashi Hirano has said that they are looking into making sequels for the film to fit the entire story of part 4.
Filming was done in the Spanish town of Sitges, though they did admit that they already knew that the original manga was set in Japan. They decided to adapt Part 4 because it featured a Japanese protagonist, therefore eliminating the “Racelift” allegations.
