The 70’s was a great time for mecha anime, and yes, it did introduce us to the Gundam franchise back in 1979. But before Gundam, from the period between 1976 and 1977, introduced us to four classics. Now, 40 years later, these four classics are teaming up for something called Miracle Robot Force.
Three classic animation studios, Eiken, Wako, and Nippon Animation, are all teaming up for this massive collaboration, which will include UFO Senshi Daiapolon, Chogattai Majutsu Robot Ginguiser, Gasshin Sentai Mechander Robo, and Blocker Corps IV: Machine Blaster.
Nippon Animation worked on Chogattai Majutsu Robot Ginguiser and Blocker Corps IV: Machine Blaster, with legendary mecha designer, Kunio Okawara, working on the latter.
Meanwhile, UFO Senshi Daiapolon is Eiken’s American Football-inspired mecha anime, created by Tetsu Kariya and Shigeru Tsuchiyama.
Finally, Studio Wako gave us Gasshin Sentai Mechander Robo, which was directed by legendary Japanese director, Masami Anno.
The collaboration began last April 3, and will run for one year. There will be multiple projects revealed for this collaboration, which kicked off with a visual image.
