So, do you want to work for the only Japanese anime director to win an Academy Award? Looks like he’s hiring. Even if it looks like his movie might not even make it to his 2019/2020 plans, Hayao Miyazaki looks dead set on making a new movie, and he needs a lot of help. The legendary anime director is currently looking for young animators and background artists, in what seems to be his “final movie”. Yeah, it turns out the The Wind Rises ain’t his “Final Movie” after all.
Interested applicants for the position of animator and background designer must be able to work in Tokyo. They will have a 3-year contract with Ghibli, and the contract begins on October 1, 2017. The jobs offer wages starting at 200,000 yen per month, as well as two annual bonuses. The work shifts start from 10 AM until 7PM JST, with one hour break for meals of course. And since this is Japan we’re talking about, expect overtime work! But then again, working under THE Hayao Miyazaki is its own reward.
Application is open until July 20, 2017, and anyone over the minimum age of 18 can apply, including non-Japanese. However, foreigners must be proficient in Japanese in order to be accepted. You can check out more details about the job through this link.
