Here we go again folks, yet another anime has received a complaint from a concerned viewer to the Japanese media watchdog, Broadcasting Ethics and Program Improvement Organization (BPO). Unsurprisingly, it’s for yet another late night anime with “Extreme Sexual Content”. The complaint did not specify which late night anime, but it could be one of three, namely Seven Mortal Sins, Mingling with a Priest, or to some extent, even Eromanga Sensei, though the latter isn’t as extreme as the first two.
The complaint said that the late night anime had “extremely” obscene content, and added that because it’s anime, kids might watch it by accident. Contrary to popular belief among anime fans outside of Japan, many in the country still consider some anime to be mainly for kids. Examples include Doraemon and the PreCure series. The complaint suggested that kids might see the anime and think that it’s ok for them to watch it just because it’s anime. Remember that foreign animation directed to kids, such as Spongebob Squarepants are also considered anime in Japan.
The complaint then continued to say that the problem is not limited to this certain program, but in TV networks in general. The complaint then suggested that the networks show restraint when broadcasting anime with “Extreme Sexual Content”. Yes folks, not everyone in Japan is fond of sexually-explicit anime.
