Live-action Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure movie coming to Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam
Get your faaaaaaaaaabulous poses ready, because the live-action Jojo’s Biozarre Adventure movie is coming right here to Southeast Asia. This is all thanks to Singapore-based distributor, ODEX Private Limited. They revealed that they will be distributing the movie to Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
However, as of writing, there’s still no word when they will be screening the movie in the above-mentioned countries. Stay tuned for more announcements.
The movie is officially titled JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable Chapter I, though the staff still hasn’t confirmed whether there will be a sequel to this movie or not.
The movie will follow Part 4 of Hirohiko Araki’s beloved manga. Kento Yamazaki was previously revealed in costume as Josuke Higashikata, the 4th Jojo and main character of the movie. They also revealed actor Yusuke Iseya in costume as the third Jojo, Jotaro Kujo. The live-action film will be adapting part 4 of the long-running series, and will be making its premiere on August 8, 2017.
The film will be directed by Takashi Miike (Crows Zero, Live-action Terraformars) and will be a co-production between Warner Brothers and TOHO. It aims to cover the entire fourth part, which follows the adventures of Jousuke, with Jotaro acting as his mentor. Because Part 4 is actually quite long, TBS producer Takashi Hirano has said that they are looking into making sequels for the film to fit the entire story of part 4.
Filming was done in the Spanish town of Sitges, though they did admit that they already knew that the original manga was set in Japan. They decided to adapt Part 4 because it featured a Japanese protagonist, therefore eliminating the “Racelift” allegations.
