With titles like Naruto, One Piece, Dragon Ball, Bleach, Gintama, Kuroko’s Basketball, Haikyuu!!, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, Hunter x Hunter, and many more, Weekly Shounen jump ain’t just a manga magazine, it’s THE manga magazine. The manga’s titles have deep international reach, as many of them are internationally-recognized classics. Now, as it celebrates its 50th anniversary, they announced that they’re holding the “Jump’s Universal Manga Contest”, which is open to everyone around the world.
The contest not only celebrates the magazine’s 50th anniversary, but also the launch of their Jump Paint manga-drawing app. It’s a free paint tool for PC, tablets, and smartphones which is available in Japanese, English, Korean, Mandarin, Cantonese, Russian, Spanish, French and Portuguese.
To enter, contestants must first make their own original manga in English, Spanish, French, Korean, Russian, Chinese (simplified), or Chinese (traditional). It has to be a one-shot story worth 55 pages or less. After they finish their manga, contestants must then submit their works via Medibang. But winning the contest ain’t easy, especially with Naruto creator, Masashi Kishimoto acting as the head judge. Here are the contest details:

- Jun. 22nd 2017 – 23:59 p.m. to Jan. 5th 2018 (JST)
- ・Grand Prize: ¥1,000,000 and Serialization in Shonen Jump (Print or Digital)
・Runner-up: ¥300,000 and Serialization in Jump Plus or in a special edition of Jump
- Submission Details
- ・Any genre allowed
・One-shot no longer than 55 pages
・Must not have been published in any commercial magazine or on any commercial website
・Must be black and white
・Text must be horizontal
・Panels should be read from right to left
- Languages: Japanese, English, Korean, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Russian, French, and Spanish
- Japanese entries should be submitted via Shonen Jump Rookie.
- Results: Scheduled for Spring 2018
