Back in 1994, Wataru Yoshizumi’s now-classic shoujo manga series, Marmalade Boy got itself a TV anime adaptation. 20 years later, the manga is inspiring a new adaptation, this time for a live-action movie, which will premiere in 2018.
The live-action movie adaptation will star Hinako Sakurai (right in image below) as Miki Koishikawa and Ryou Yoshizawa as Yuu Matsura as the two leads. Live-action Wolf Girl & Black Prince director, Ryuuichi Hiroki will be directing the movie.
Yoshizumi launched the classic manga back in 1992 and inspired a TV anime adaptation which ran from 1994 – 1995. It also inspired a Taiwanese live-action drama series in 2001. The original manga and anime follows new step-sibling, Miki and Yuu, who meet after their parents divorced and swapped partners. However, a new romance is brewing between their children as well.
More details about the movie will be revealed in the days to come.
