The Fall 2017 anime season is just a few days away already, and we know a lot of people are excited. And as many of the current Summer 2017 anime are slowly ending their respective runs, we take a look at 7 fresh new faces which we think fans should watch out for and are actually excited to watch. We only picked anime without any previous TV anime adaptations or had previous seasons, so no Love Live! Sunshine!! Season 2 and no spin-offs like UQ Holder!: Mahou Sensei Negima! 2.
Many are saying that Black Clover is one of the new “Big 3” in Shounen manga, which was previously occupied by One Piece, Bleach, and Naruto. And Black Clover comes from the very same magazine as those three classics, and its TV anime adaptation is coming into next season with all the hype in the world! And the same studio behind Naruto is producing it too!
Synopsis: Asta and Yuno were abandoned together at the same church and have been inseparable since. As children, they promised that they would compete against each other to see who would become the next Emperor Magus. However, as they grew up, some differences between them became plain. Yuno was a genius with magic, with amazing power and control, while Asta could not use magic at all, and tried to make up for his lack by training physically. When they received their Grimoires at age 15, Yuno got a spectacular book with a four-leaf clover (most people receive a three-leaf-clover), while Asta received nothing at all. However, when Yuno was threatened, the truth about Asta’s power was revealed, he received a five-leaf clover Grimoire, a “black clover”! Now the two friends are heading out in the world, both seeking the same goal!
If you’re into all those edgy stuff, then you might like this edgy supernatural battle anime which also has superpowered Nazis.
Synopsis: On May 1, 1945 in Berlin, as the Red Army raises the Soviet flag over the Reichskanzlei, a group of Nazi officers conduct a ritual. For them, the slaughter in the city is nothing but the perfect ritual sacrifice in order to bring back the Order of the 13 Lances, a group of supermen whose coming would bring the world’s destruction. Years later, no one knows if this group of officers succeeded, or whether they lived or died. Few know of their existence, and even those who knew began to pass away as the decades passed.
Now in December in the present day in Suwahara City, Ren Fujii spends his days at the hospital. It has been two months since the incident that brought him to the hospital: a fight with his friend Shirou Yusa where they almost tried to kill each other. He tries to value what he has left to him, but every night he sees the same dream: a guillotine, murderers who hunt people, and the black clothed knights who pursue the murderers. He is desperate to return to his normal, everyday life, but even now he hears Shirou’s words: “Everyone who remains in this city eventually loses their minds.”
With an old man serving as the anime’s unconventional main protagonist, Inuyashiki promises plenty of action and suspense. The guy behind Gantz, Hiroya Oku is the creator of this promising series, which looks like it will also have some great animations from MAPPA if the PVs and trailers are to be trusted.
Synopsis: Inuyashiki Ichirou is down on his luck. While only 58 years old, his geriatric looks often have him written off as a pathetic old man by the world around him and he’s constantly ignored and disrespected by his family despite all that he’s done to support them. On top of everything else, his doctor has revealed that he has cancer and it appears that he has little time left in this world. But just when it seems things couldn’t get any worse, a blinding light in the night sky strikes the earth where Ichirou stands. He later wakes up to find himself unscathed, but he soon starts to notice that there’s something… different about himself. However, it turns out that these strange, new changes are just what Ichirou needs to take a new lease on life and now it seems like there’s nothing to stop him from being a hero worthy of the respect that he never had before… unless, that is, there was someone else out there with these same changes…
Juuni Taisen: Zodiac War
We’ve heard so much about this anime, and have watched the PVs, so we’re gonna admit we’re quite excited. Like Inuyashiki, expect plenty of action and suspense on this anime, which features on characters inspired by the Chinese Zodiac.
Synopsis: 12 warriors who are burdened with the names of the 12 Chinese Zodiac members fight with each other’s lives and pride at stake, all to grant just one wish.
A Sister’s All You Need
I know what you guys are thinking, and yes, from the title alone, we’re gonna call it in advance and say that this might be yet another OreImo clone. However, we know how popular those little sister anime tend to get, so we’re not counting it out just yet.
Synopsis: This is the story about the daily life of a young siscon novelist, Itsuki Hashima with his perfect little sister Chihiro, the genius illustrator Nayuta Kani, his best friend Miyako Shirakawa and some insane partners from his publishers.
Recovery of an MMO Junkie
In the modern world, hating reality and playing games all day is getting more and more prevalent. This new gaming anime tackles the world of NEETs, as it follows a 30-year old woman who loves playing MMOs.
Synopsis: Moriko Morioka is a 30-year-old single NEET woman. After dropping out from reality, she has taken off in search for a fulfilling life and ended up in a net game or “netoge.” In the netoge world, she began her new life as a refreshing and handsome character named Hayashi. While starting out as a beginner, a pretty character named Lily reached out to help her. Meanwhile, in the real world, awaits a shocking encounter with a good-looking elite company employee, a mysterious blue-eyed blonde.
King’s Game The Animation
This new horror anime is also coming into the Fall 2017 season with a ton of hype, and with good reason. Expect thrills and suspense as high school students try and survive against the mysterious “king”
Synopsis: Nobuaki Kanazawa, who transferred to a high school far away, is afraid of getting intimate with his new classmates because of the events that happened from his previous school. This led him to shut his heart. However, he starts to open up during the sports festival’s class relay. He and all his classmates received an email from “Ousama.” At first, his classmates didn’t take what they were told seriously, thinking it’s just a joke, but Nobuaki, the only one who knows the real meaning of it, fights against the “death” game that will soon begin…
The rules of the Ousama Game are as follows:
1. All class members must participate.
2. The order sent by Ousama through email must be followed within 24 hours.
3. A punishment will be given to those who don’t follow the order.
4. Quitting the Ousama Game halfway is forbidden.
