In Japanese anime often have stories set in the real world. This is particularly true for slice of life anime, as well as sports anime and romance anime. However, most of the time, these anime have a Japanese setting, with a majority of Japanese characters. But every once in a while, we get that token foreign character from Britain, America, Russia, or even China.
For this week’s Charapedia poll, the Japanese website asked 10,000 anime fans (53.0% male, 47.0% female) about which foreigner from anime is the one that they think is the most fascinating. And without further ado, here are the Top 10:
10 – Alexandra Garcia (Kuroko’s Basketball)
9 – Ciel Phantomhive (Black Butler)
8 – Jodie Starling (Detective Conan)
7 – Yuri Plisetsky (Yuri!! On Ice)
6 – Kiss-Shot-Acerola-Orion-Heart-Under-Blade (Monogatari series)
5 – Vermouth (Detective Conan)
4 – Camus (UtaPri)
3 – Irina Jelavic (Assassination Classroom)
2 – Viktor Nikiforov (Yuri!! on Ice)
1 – Alice Cartalet (Kiniro Mosaic)
Unlike most Charapedia polls, this one only featured a Top 10, so a few characters are truly missing in a way since they usually feature a Top 20. But with that being said, fans voted for the lovable Brit, Alice Cartalet, who won against the heavily-favored Viktor. The Russian figure skater only took 2nd place, with “Bitch-sensei”, Irina, taking third.
So, who is your favorite foreigner from a Japanese anime?
