Ladies and gentlemen, time to go on a nostalgia trip, as Sakura Kinomoto is back! A new TV anime will be adapting CLAMP’s Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Arc, and now, its staff have revealed a brand new key visual for the upcoming anime series:
She’s all grown up! Well, at least a little bit since she’s only in middle school. And yes, that’s veteran voice actress/seiyuu, Sakura Tenge returning to voice the character she voiced back in the 90’s! The anime’s official website also confirmed the anime’s air dates in Japan. NHK BS Premium will first air the anime at 7:30 am on January 7, 2018, Japan Standard Time.
Madhouse will be animating the project, while NHK will be broadcasting it. Much of the original 1990’s classic will also be returning for this new sequel anime, which features Sakura as a middle school student. The sequel manga was part of the 20th anniversary celebrations for the CCS franchise, which of course started when CLAMP first launched the series back in May 1996 inside the pages of Nakayoshi magazine.
