Looks like the return of Rurouni Kenshin has been derailed once again, but this time, the reasons are more serious. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department said on Wednesday that they’ve arrested 39-year old Nobuhiro Nishiwaki on suspicions of child pornography. Nishiwaki is best known for his pen name, Nobuhiro Watsuki, the mangaka behind Rurouni Kenshin.
According to investigators, Watsuki is in possession of multiple DVDs which have naked girls from their early teens. The police also searched his home and found these alleged child pornography DVDs. Reports indicate that the police have suspected the mangaka to have been buying these illegal DVDs for some time now.
If found guilty, the Rurouni Kenshin mangaka might be subjected to not more than 1-year imprisonment, as well as a fine of no more than 1 million yen. Child Pornography is now illegal in Japan, and the showing of naked girls under the age of 18 can lead to imprisonment.
