Imagine Batman as a ninja, and going against a feudal-era Joker? Well, that’s exactly the premise of the upcoming anime movie, Batman Ninja. During the Tokyo Comic-Con, a panel consisting of three of the movie’s staff members, revealed new details on Batman Ninja. This includes a brand new trailer, which teases the movie’s story:
In the movie, Batman and the others are transported to feudal-era Japan. However, they find out that Joker has taken over from the future. Now, he and the others must save the day, and to do that, they must become ninjas.
For this Japanese version, Kouichi Yamadera (Cowboy Bebop’s Spike Spiegel), will be voicing the ninja Batman in the place of the legendary Kevin Conroy. Meanwhile, while he is no Mark Hamill or Heath Ledger, Wataru Takagi (Gundam X’s Garrod Ran), will be voicing the Clown Prince of Crime himself, the Joker.
Junpei Mizusaki will direct the new anime over at his studio, Kamikaze Douga. He will be working alongside Kill la Kill and Gurren Lagann script writer, Takashi Okazaki, as well as Afro Samurai mangaka, Kazuki Nakashima, who will do the anime’s character designs. Warner Brothers Animation will be releasing the movie in DVD and Blu-ray worldwide in 2018.
