Next season, one of anime’s most iconic magical girls, will return with Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card. The anime will adapt CLAMP’s sequel manga to the classic Cardcaptor Sakura manga series. And now, we finally know how long the anime will run! NHK, which will broadcast the anime next month, revealed that the anime will have 26 episodes in total.
The report also revealed that the anime will premiere on NHK BS Premium at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2018. It will also have reruns and online streaming as well.
The anime will be set after the events of the original CLAMP manga, with Sakura Kinomoto now a middle school student. However, a new threat emerges, and she must defend the world once again. Morio Asaka, who directed the original anime, will be returning to direct this new series. Madhouse will also be returning to do the animation, with the originals’ animation director, Kunihiko Hada, doing the character designs. CLAMP member, Nanase Ohkawa, will be the one to handle series composition, and much of the cast will also return to reprise their roles.
