The Tokyo Anime Award Festival celebrates the anime industry, and is basically considered the Oscars for animation in Japan. In fact, many in Japan consider their Anime of the Year award as the highest honor in the industry. As usual, they announced two winners for Anime of the Year, along with a Fan Award. Here are the results:

Theatrical Division:
In This Corner of the World

TV Anime Division:
Kemono Friends

Fan Award:
Yuri!! on Ice

Kemono Friends was last year’s big runaway hit, so it would only be fitting that it would win Anime of the Year. Meanwhile, In This Corner of the World captured the hearts of critics around the world, and its amazing story was enough to bag it Japanese animation’s highest prize. Meanwhile, Yuri!! on Ice, which won both the Anime of the Year and Fan awards last year, won the fan awards again this year. Here are the other winners of the Tokyo Anime Awards Festival:
