Netflix is now changing the face the Japanese entertainment and anime industries in a big way. Not only are they producing Netflix-exclusive live-action dramas like Mob Psycho 100, but also exclusive anime content like Fate/Apocrypha, ID-0, Kuromokuro, Kakegurui, Violet Evergarden, and of course, the Godzilla anime. However, they announced that they will be having a comprehensive business alliance with two major anime studios, and they are Production I.G and Bones.
Production I.G., which is a huge company which includes other smaller studios like IG Port and WIT Studio, will be including these two companies in the partnership. With this, Netflix can now co-produce anime from the studios themselves, and then stream these anime exclusively to 190 countries. Of course, this means that they may be able to bring us anime exclusives faster.
Netflix aims to strengthen its ever-growing Japanese animation line-up for all members around the world, and also give them “high-quality anime from Japan.” They say that this will be a “win-win-win” situation for everyone, from the members to anime creators, and anime production staff.
