After getting arrested for simple possession of child pornography, the Tokyo Public Prosecutors Office filed a summary indictment against the mangaka, Nobuhiro Watsuki.. Now, the Tokyo Summary Court has now announced the punishment for Rurouni Kenshin creator. They announced that as punishment for his crime, Watsuki will have to pay 200,000 yen in fines.
According to investigators, Watsuki is in possession of multiple DVDs which have naked girls from their early teens. The police also searched his home and found these alleged child pornography DVDs. Reports indicate that the police have suspected the mangaka to have been buying these illegal DVDs for some time now. The matter also doesn’t help the Rurouni Kenshin creator after he admitted to investigators that he actually likes girls from late elementary to early middle school. Child Pornography is now illegal in Japan, and the showing of naked girls under the age of 18 can lead to imprisonment.
In addition to the fines, the sequel manga to Rurouni Kenshin also got suspended. Watsuki recently launched the sequel to Rurouni Kenshin, which takes place after the Hokkaido arc. However, Shueisha, which publishes Watsuki’s various manga, announced that they are suspending serialization for the manga. They did this as soon as the news of his child pornography charges broke.
