Boruto’s dad is so popular, he’s getting his own live-action Kabuki play! Yeah, this play might be a prequel of sorts for Boruto, huh?
Kabuki Theater is one of Japan’s most well-known traditions, and one Kabuki troupe is adapting Masashi Kishimoto’s beloved Naruto manga into a Kabuki play. Now, the play’s staff has revealed its two lead actors in costume. Minosuke Bandou, who previously played Uta in the live-action Tokyo Ghoul, will be playing Boruto’s Dad, Naruto Uzumaki. Meanwhile, Hayato Nakamura will play Sarada’s dad, Sasuke Uchiha.
Shochiku Troupe, which is responsible for the highly-popular One Piece Kabuki play, are the ones responsible for making this happen. They also released better images of the Kabuki versions of Sasuke and Naruto as well.
It will also feature the star of the One Piece Kabuki play, Ichikawa Ennosuke IV as Madara Uchiha. However, he would also have an alternate actor playing the role, as Ainosuke Kataokan is also playing Madara in alternate performances.
The Shinbashi Enbujou theater in Tokyo will be holding performances starting August 2018. This is also the same theater which showed the One Piece Kabuki performances. G2 is writing and directing the play. Expect the staff to reveal more cast members in costume soon.
