Japanese Language Proficiency Test

Organized by Japan Foundation & Japan Education Exchanges & Services (JEES) conducted by the Japanese Cultural Society of Singapore.

The objective of the test is to let Japanese language students know their level of proficiency as well as to enhance their enthusiasm for the learning of the language for mutual understanding among nations.

The test is made up of three sections

Writing/Vocabulary
Hearing
Reading/ Grammar

(from Mon to Fri, 2.30pm - 8.00pm, closed on Sat, Sun & public holidays)

Application Procedure:

2 recent passport-size photos are required for registration.
The application form is chargeable at $2.00 per set.
Test Fee: Level 1: $55 / Level 2: $55 / Level 3: $45 / Level 4: $45.
Submit your application personally at the Japanese Cultural Society.

This is your guide to filling up the application form. You may encounter problems registering if you do not download the test guide.

Points to note:

As a rule, applicant is not allowed to register for more than one level of the test.
The 'address' that you provide on your online application will serve as your 'mailing address' for both your test voucher and your score report. If there is any changes in the address, please send an email to jlpt@jcss.org.sg to update the detail. (Tentative date for mailing of Test voucher: 10 November 2009 / Tentative date for mailing of Score Report: 20 February 2010.)
Please download the Test Guide before you proceed to register online.
Send 2 identical passport-size photos to the Japanese Cultural Society within 3 days from the date of submission of your application online.
Attach your photos on the 'Photo Form' and send it by post to:

Payment must be made online. Your application will not be processed if we do not receive your payment.
Your application is not confirmed if you do not receive our acknowledgement through email.
Please call the JCS Registration office at tel: 63383428 if you do not receive our acknowledgement within one week from date of submission.

The timing to register is somewhat inconvenient for me, but I have taken the ones in 2007 & 2008 to know what it's like.

Cost of application form seem to have increased, level 2 and 4 too.
