@Chillhat: Ya lor, the story is a bit of a squash cos of the page limitation. =P But it's a good exercise cos it forces one to summarise, summarise, summarise. =) @Okita: Thanks! I know the layout/panelling needs some work, and up there at first page the leg and gags look slightly off; got the helpful comments from another forum. =P ...Anything else you spot that can be improved pls do tell, so I can make the next one better! ^^

| Post-Crazy Member | Ah, paiseh, I only just realise wat you are saying now... well actually screentones cost about $7.95(okay, =$8) per piece, quite large, about B4 size, at kinokuniya(orchard). I use no.s 60,61,63,65 generally, 90,91,93,95 for the smaller pics(so the dots dun stand out too much); that's abt 8 pcs, add in gradation and pattern, maybe another 2-3 pcs; that's abt $80-88. Collection built up slowly(over few weeks or months; I forgot =P ), and not all used up, can be used for more than one comic ma. Also more colours can be created by layering, so save a bit there too. For me that's cheap cos otherwise I gotta get programs($600-1000++, the last time I checked) and also change my computer(ibook G4 1.2Ghz, 256MB RAM - when I got it >2yrs ago I was intending to surf net and play "The Sims" only... =P - can't even run the Mangastudio free demo cos that requires 512 RAM.). Dun have the few thousand dollars to get all that done lo. ^^

I used a more cheater way. You know they have the pattern maker on pscs2 right? one of the da member posed a package of 600 dpi screentones for us. So i juz incorporate tt into the pattern maker. =.= For the effect n gradation right, have to go search internet for it. coz some pple will scan in full resolution so we can juz take. very cheapo nana hor.. i guess for me computer is long term investment.. but don buy dell! 1 year plus ago i buy dell. 4wk ago the mother board crash.. my heart sank w it. but lucky for me the memory disk never crash w it also.. so go upgrade your ram! it worth it.. Ps; what program u need ar? comic maker?? or ps? or others? =D Last edited by ChillHat; 11-02-2008 at 08:44 AM. | |

I have this program called "Photostudio" by "Arcsoft" and another one, called "Procreate Painter Classic". Both came bundled with the Graphire tablet which in turn came free when I bought OSX for Mac(10.2.8... really, really long time ago - might be 4 yrs even) Both are pretty basic; got layer but no layer modes; for painter only path selection(choice of rectangular or lasso) allowed; for photostudio there's an additional function called "magic wand" which is supposed to auto choose an area of similar colour; but I find the selection not very accurate (of course, could also be that I dunno how to use it properly =P ) Anyway, nowadays I if I do I mostly use painter; digital ink to compensate for no multiply mode, then airbrush/erase pixel by pixel lor. =P But still exploring; might have missed out some wonderful function somewhere... =P p.s: Yeh! It's Yvi. =D
