This is in the order of how my own make-up is done. Use a make-up base before foundation, to protect your own skin. I use Missha because I'm broke, but Chanel's the best. If your foundation doesn't have SPF, use a sunscreen before that. Make-up base is to set a "barrier" between your face and make-up. Make-up may be quite damaging to the skin (clogs pores, create zits and all that), so it's important to know how to protect it. For foundation, I recommend Revlon Colorstay (approx. $30) if you're on a middle budget, Chanel (approx. $50+) if you have a higher budget. If you're low budget, ZA 2-way, but that's if you have good to okay skin, because the coverage is much lower than liquid foundations. If you're using powder foundation, use concealer BEFORE that. If you're using cream or liquid foundation, use concealer AFTER that. For concealer, I'm using ZA and it's pretty good. ^^ Cheap. LOL. Kesalan Patharan's concealer (yellow and orange tubes), i nuovi, and Ettusais have good concealers too. Don't use too much or you will look like Michael Jackson. There are color correctors/concealers for flaws too. # Green: Cuts and tones down redness # Apricot: Brightens cooler skin tones # Peach: Brightens cooler skin tones # Rose: Lifts sallow complexions and gives a glow # Lilac: Cuts excess yellow in the skin and lifts sallow complexions # Blue: Takes down orangey skin tones, also corrects bad self-tan applications! # Bronze: Brightens and lifts nearly all skin tones. Gives a healthy sun-kissed look # Gold: Accentuates golden skin tones and suntans # Silver: Brightens cooler skins. Usually only done in the evening! # Yellow: Brightens warmer skin tones Not all cosmetics carry so much colors, the most common ones are green, lavender/purple/lilac, pink and blue. For loose powder, I use Silkygirl (previously Wet & Wild). I don't know any other good loose powders, because I'm not very specific about it, as long as it doesn't give me breakouts. xD For blusher, I use Silkygirl as well. It's cheap and good and stays on the whole day! I also use MAC Dollygirl and MAC Pinch O Peach too. If you are able to find this, use Shu Uemura blush in Sakura, but that's a limited edition colour. For best effects, use the brush from The Body Shop. It picks up the blush real good, and it's soft. For eyes (the most difficult part), do your eye shadow before anything else. So that in case you get it wrong, you can easily clean up. For this I recommend Pure Luxe (www.pureluxecosmetics.com). I order this online, and it's only $1usd for the 1/8 teaspoons samples. If you rarely put on make-up unless it's for cosplay, this saves you alot of money. ^^ The shipping is very cheap too, so no worries about that. It's definitely MUCH more that 1/8 teaspoon though... The quantity is about one teaspoon at least. And there are hundreds of colours for you to choose from. They have blush and foundation too, but those I have never tried before. The eye shadows are pretty lasting. ^^ Other than that, MAC and Shiseido Majolica Majorca eyeshadows are also my favourites. XD And BEFORE you apply eyeshadow, use an eye base. Recommended one is MAC Bare Canvas. But I'm broke, so I just use foundation over it, haha. XD This is to ensure that any pigmentations are covered, to even out the color on your face. ^^ When I have nothing better to do, maybe will do an eyeshadow tutorial, lol. XD After eyeshadows, do your eyeliner. I have been using Missha black liquid eyeliner ever since I started patronising them. XD But if you're a beginner at eyeliner, use Shiseido Majolica Majorca pen eyeliners. I get them from www.adambeauty.com, and they're proven to be very easy to use. They're lasting too. For beginners if you don't know how to start, use a pencil eyeliner to "dot" the "path" you want your liquid eyeliner to go, then just join the dots! ^^ I usually draw the eyeliner from the middle of my eyelid to the end, then fill in the blank in front. I don't use fake eyelashes, but you can get good ones from Dodo Club, at the basement of Cathay Cineleisure. ^^ After eyeliner, kiap your eyelashes with an eyelash curler (If you can afford it, get one from Shu Uemura, if not, Shiseido is good too). Do it in 3 steps - First kiap the BASE of your eyelashes, then the middle in a 45 degree angle, and the top in a 90 degree angle. After that, use mascara. I LOVE mascara so I kinda have alot. ^^; The best ones so far are Fasio 3D Air-tech, ZA Cutie Curl, Shiseido Dramatical, and Lancome Hynose. If it clumps (a few lashes sticking together), use an eyelash comb. Avoid mascaras that give you "spider legs", a term used for messy looking eyelashes. They should look neat and curved. ^^ Please use a good eye-makeup remover for waterproof mascaras, otherwise your eyelashes may drop (I kid ya not). Use Fancl Cleansing Oil. ^^ For lips, use some foundation over it. It makes your lipstick/lipgloss stay on better. For lipsticks, use MAC, Bobbi Brown, Lancome, Clinique, and Chanel. For lipgloss, use MAC lipglass, Stila lipglaze and Clinique. Lancome Juicy Tube is quite popular, but I find it too sticky for me. XD Extra tip: When testing foundation or concealers, DO NOT USE THE BACK OF YOUR HANDS. Because of the difference of sun exposure surface area, your hands and face might not be the same color. Test a little on your jawline instead. ANOTHER tip: Please shape your eyebrows. =_=;; Your eyebrows kind of "frames" your eyes, so I think it's unsightly even if you have wonderful eye make-up, but unruly brows. XD I go to Rupini's at Midpoint Orchard (2nd floor) for eyebrow threading. $5. I'm so bored. XD Last edited by Shizuka; 29-05-2006 at 04:33 PM. |

MAC Powerpoint in Engraved should be good. I dunno whether it is dark enough (never used this before), but you can go try at the MAC counters. It smudges probably because you have oily eyelids? Apply an eye make-up base before using eyeliner. Dunno if it works because my eyelids are quite dry (so they don't smudge in general), but it's worth a try. xD Alternatively, you can try MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack. It's very black, but it's a gel eyeliner. :3 |

Good luck. :3 Just want to share. These few places have really cheap mineral eyeshadow samples too, and they're really good! With LOTS of colors. *_* http://madminerals.org/ http://www.twistedfayte.com/ http://www.taylormademinerals.com/index.html xD *bimbotic* Mineral eyeshadows are better than normal ones, btw. Because they have natural SPF, no fillers, doesn't clog pores, great for sensitive skin, very versatile etc. ^________________^~ |

Hm? Why not? I dunno this will work or not, but you go try lah. You trim your eyebrows really short (the areas which you want to pluck/shave off ONLY, don't trim the whole thing) but still visible, and then use normal concealer over it. XD And after using concealer, remember to use loose powder over it, otherwise your brows will look like they're being surrounded by a ring of beige mud. xDDDDD Unfortunately, I don't think Kryolan is being carried in Singapore. ^^; |

| Woddee | *staring at the amount of information waiting to be digested* That's a lot for me to understand~I'm using ZA's concealer and 2 way cake. For my base, i use Loreal's mousse base. Blusher i use Missha's one. Eye liner (pencil) and mascara some cheapo brand. Yar, i know, my make up set is pathetic cause i'm seriously broke. I use to own an MAC eyeliner (The most expensive thing in my make up set O_o) but gave it away cause i rarely used it I know~ I'm pathetic in make up

other than whether the color is suitable or not, how can you see if that makeup thing is suitable for your skin?

It's all trial and error darling~ Some trial and tested make up sets, have both positive and negative effects. Some will have breakouts, some don't. This is how they know the product is suitable for their skin =) Thank goodness, none has ever happened to me as yet
