What is the Cosplay Challenge?

With Singapore aiming to move towards a creative and artistic society, S’pore Discovery Centre hopes to reach out to youths who are strong in these areas and who have the determination to succeed in whatever they set out to do. An activity such as Cosplay Challenge 09 propels its players toward their wildest imagination as they set out in search of innovative ways to create and present their favourite characters for the final showcase.

Cosplay Challenge 09 is a gathering of committed, creative and hardworking youths who will make their own costumes from scratch with the determination of steel.

To support these youths in their ambition, we will have 12 custom-made Cosplay Workshops designed to help them reach their goals in creating their own costumes.

For a start, all contestants will be required to select a character they really like or wish to cosplay, and after which the instructors will guide them to make their cosplay dreams come true.

From now till 31st January 09, a special exhibition displaying valuable ‘weapons’ and costumes await you in SDC. Be enthralled by costumes featured in anime, games and even movies!

To round up the whole event, a Cosplay Challenge Party will be held for all contestants to reveal their creations to the public on the final day.

A top prize of $1000 awaits the winner while the 2nd and 3rd prize will walk away with $750 and $500 respectively.

Workshops Schedule

Starting Date: 30 Nov 2008 – 18 Jan 2009 [Every Sunday]

A total of 12 cosplay workshops will be conducted in the S'pore Discovery Centre.

Fee: $20 for a total of 12 sessions/$10 per workshop session
