Why did we do the Cosplay Challenge?
There were many people who wanted to join our world of Cosplay, but had no idea how to. Henceforth, for many years, we had always dreamt of doing workshops for those who want to learn.
Then sometime 8 years after we were formed, did our own fair share of events in Singapore, that we had this terrific chance when the Singapore Discovery Center came in to be our partner.
We launched what was perhaps the biggest series of Cosplay Workshops in Singapore, which we are very proud to say, attracted a big number of cosplayers, new and old.
Roping in all our partners, we pooled together resources to do a very challenging task; to organize the Cosplay Challenge 09.
I am very happy to say that although the Singapore Cosplay community used to be female-dominant, the Cosplay Challenge workshops can now help to add a lot more male cosplayers to the cosplay pool. We had a good number of male cosplayers coming in, let’s just say the ratio of female:male cosplayers was 50%-50%.
No more worries, now you can have more real males cosplaying male characters.
I hope that eases the lament of many a cosplayer who have complained to me about the lack of male cosplayers in Singapore.
Why should I support the Challengers?
This is an easy one. It is simply because you were new once too. Wouldn’t you like to have people who are very encouraging of you when you first venture into Cosplaying?
Think of when you first started and how hard the journey was.
Come make the cosplay memories of these Challengers a beautiful one by supporting their very first performances.
Photographers and videographers, your immortalization of us into pretty/handsome digital photos/footage would be much appreciated too as we cosplayers rarely get to take much photos ourselves as we are too busy running around cosplaying.
About our special guest
We knew Goldy from three years ago, but due to timing issues, having the chance to have him with us in Singapore took that full three years to make it possible.
Goldy san is a very kind and generous cosplayer who would really like to share much of his cosplaying experience with us.
When we first invited this legendary costume and props maker, he was so happy at being able to meet up with our Singapore community.
He will be joining us at the Cosplay Party.
Let’s give him a great experience in Singapore too, shall we?

Don't say that, having cosplayers coming from other countries coming is not easy. We worked three years on it.
We hope everyone, new and old cosplayers get to benefit from this experience.
As for you, work hard also! I think you enjoy your work.

There was once a dream, a dream that was Sgcafe
The dream was that all persons, from all lands could be made to live, in harmony, with each other and moderators. But alas, this dream was not to Sgcafe.
