Reports of mass deletion of Hatsune Miku and other Vocaloid videos on YouTube have caused many fans to band together and try to stop the destructive phenomenon.

The videos were pulled off the site after false copyright infringement complaints were filed against them. Due to the coordinated nature of the attacks, many fans suspect that there is more than one person behind the framed reports.

A video was released by a concerned fan pleading to help protect remaining videos still up on YouTube, as well as get the yanked videos back online.

Fans are encouraged to translate the message in their local languages and reuploaded to YouTube for distribution.

Publishers in Japan usually try to promote their latest releases by including blurbs from famous authors, however this is the first time that infamous internet organism 4Chan was used as part of a blurb.

The latest release of the manga “It’s Not My Fault I’m Not Popular” (私がモテないのはどう考えてもお前らが悪い! ), a blurb on one corner of the book reads “海外の2ちゃん的な掲示板で大人気!!”, literally “A hit on the overseas version of 2Chan!!” — AKA 4Chan.

4Chan members have released scanlated versions of “It’s Not My Fault I’m Not Popular”, which led to the series’ popularity on the site.

Japanese trading card game maker now also the parent company of New Japan Pro Wrestling (新日本プロレスリング). Today it was announced that Bushiroad has acquired 100% of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s shares, turning the latter into a wholly-owned subsidiary.

New Japan Pro Wrestling was founded in January 1972 by one Antonio Inoki, and has had a long history and popularity rivaling that of the WWE in the US. However, after the wrestling boom faded between the 1990s and 2000, the company was in a bit of a turmoil from both a financial and management standpoint.

In 2005, videogame developer Yukes acquired a 51.5% stake of New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), after a series of fairly successful Shin Nippon Pro Wrestling: Toukon Retsuden videogames, and took over company management duties from Inoki. By then the company had been in the red year after year, and it wasn’t until January 2011 NJPW finally turned a profit for its fiscal year. Despite hard times and the decline of pro-wrestling as a source of entertainment, NJPW was able to weather it all and hang on to its “major” wrestling promoter status.

And now they get taken over by Bushiroad, who has not only acquired Yukes’ 51.5% stake, but also the rest of the company’s shares.

Bushiroad is best known for trading card games like Card Fight!! Vanguard, Weiss Schwarz, as well as anime/game properties like Milky Holmes.

In recent years Bushiroad has taken an interest in the pro-wrestling scene, having been a sponsor of various events, such as the G1 Climax, NJPW 40th Anniversary Tour, and Wrestle Kingdom V1 in Tokyo Dome. They even organised a Bushiroad Wrestling event last year in May, featuring a Black Rock Shooter vs Deadmaster wrestling match, as well as a Milky Holmes live performance.

Bushiroad was also one of the sponsors behind the TV Tokyo broadcast of WWE Wrestlemania 27 World Premier. So this acquisition actually makes a lot more sense than you would think.

What Bushiroad plans to do with NJPW, however, remains tight-lipped and pegged with a big question mark.

Could they be planning to come up with a NJPW-themed trading card game soon (which would make the acquisition perfect sense)? Or – less likely – perhaps Bushiroad intends to do promote its TCG/anime/game properties through pro-wrestling, or do collaborations thereof?

The PlayStation Vita has a functionality called ‘Near’ which lets you see what other Vita users near your location are playing. Apparently for one PS Vita owner in Japan, somebody near him has been playing Monster Hunter Portable 3G. Said PS Vita owner then recorded video proof of this and posted it online… anonymously… that’s not very credible, is it?

A blogger who saw the video on January 28 certainly thinks so. ”The game title reads ‘Monster Hunter Portable 3G’, as opposed to ‘Monster Hunter Portable 3rd G’ (the naming convention of all PSP Monster Hunter games),” abura817 writes.

Eventually abura817 concludes that the video must be fake, reasoning that if Near lists a game that you haven’t personally played, then the bottom-left indicator (“how many people near you are currently playing this”) should read 1/106 or more, not 0/106 as shown in the video.

This turns out to be flawed reasoning.

To be sure, I picked up my own Vita, went to the game popularity rankings page in Near (the exact screen you saw in the video), and promptly found two entries of games I haven’t played on my unit – Dynasty Warriors and BlazBlue – that both had a 0/3 marking, with 3 being the grand total of identified PS Vita users near me (the Vita goes on sale here on February 22, remember?)

If this video is real, then Monster Hunter 3G is not a PSP game, but a full-fledged Vita title – PSP game entries listed in Near are marked with a generic “blue controller” icon right where you see a Felyne graphic in the screenshot above.

And if true, this video certainly corroborates reports that a Sony executive, PlayStation France CEO Philippe Cardon, had gone on record to say that “a particular game, Monster Hunter, [is] scheduled for the coming months” while commenting on the Vita’s slow sales in Japan.

That makes two very strong indications that a Monster Hunter 3G for PS Vita is coming, in the short span of a week… Could Capcom be ready to make an announcement soon?

Update: Hong Kong magazine GameWave also reported a similar rumour – Monster Hunter Portable 3G is coming to PSP in late 2012 – in their latest issue, according to The Magicbox. Am I supposed to believe that all this is some sort of crazy coincidence?
