Default Sim Lim Square Scammer Shop no.101

I guess there's lots of blacklisted shops in Sim Lim Square already. So maybe this one's the lastest one.

Sim Lim Square
#02-79
Mobile Hut
Sells cameras, mp3s and games. Camera sales by one shopkeeper, mp3 and games by a second group (this shop is shared by two different groups, it seems).

I was asking for Final FantasyTactics and Final Fantasy VII originals, and this person spoke immediately that he has it. I wanted to see them, so he told me to pay the bill first. I was using nets. He covered the screen of the nets device at first, and when I insisted on seeing the discs first, he retyped in the amount to be transferred. $69 for FFT, $100 for FF7. He claimed that he wants the payment first so that his effort of searching through his store won't be wasted. I was desperate for the games, so I trusted him. He took 30 min to get back. He brought back Final Fanasy Anthology instead.

He claimed that I wanted two games...two-in-one. Thus FFA. I demanded for the exact games that I wanted, he said he needed to check with Seow Choon. He made a show of asking for the number from his accomplice, and faked a conversation while walking out of the shop, out of my ear range. He returned saying he needs time to get them, and he'll give me his contact. His name: Ah Kow (means dog, for non-hokkien people).

I wanted a refund, but he said that it was by nets, he couldn't reverse the transfer. If I'd asked for it in cash, I think you know what he'd say. I then changed my demands for the FF IX he has. He said I needed to top up the difference to make it $299.

I wanted to keep the price at $169. He offered a 20% discount and told me to give him my nets card 'cause it means I CAN pay the difference. I insisted on nothing more than $169 worth, and he finally backed down. I checked with the neighbouring shops, FF IX was selling for $59. I was conned $110.

If this shop hasn't been blacklisted by everyone yet, please becareful of even going close to them.

Noted. Also as a general rule of thumb, Shops on teh second floor are usually tourist traps. Most of us regulars go to the shops located the 3-5 floors. I'll get some of the other 'regs' to stake the shop out.

Paying before you see the goods is already wrong, whether you're in a tourist trap or not.

When people ask you if you can pay before you see the goods, just tell they can take their business elsewhere.

So simple, Police case liao leh, who say Nets is unreversable? even VISA, AMEX and Master are reversable. If they swiped your card for nets, money have been deducted, they could have just refunded u in cash which is infact much more simpler than VISA transactions.

1, buying stuff in simlim must always becareful. Bundled together = cheaper maynot be true all the time. Shopkeeper can always change the price on the shop and talk cock to u. The best way not to get cheated is to take ur time when purchasing. NV EVER walk into 1 shop and grab wat u want. Consult afew shop b4 making decision. And when the shopkeeper ask for some STRANGE method of payment. AWAYS BE WARY.
And like wat T_T||| said, grab the item first b4 paying. IMPORTANT.

Just for info, handling cash back is wrong for Visa/Master/Amex because there are hidden charges on the vendor/retail side. The right way is to void.
Nets is also possible to void if I am not wrong.

Im talking bout NETS, and yes all card transactions CAN BE VOIDED AND REFUNDED. If its the retailer's fault and customers demand refund, for NETS case, it can be refunded in cash and the hidden charges can be waivered following a full report given by the retailer (its troublesome but its your fault so you cant blame the customer for making you do extra work).

Koyuki's past experience in the retail line is showing...
People actually demand refund of Casio watches???

Hmmm... usually, I will not take out my wallet till I see the shit put in front of my face.
If they wanna swipe my card first, I'll take my business to one of the many (and more reputable) shops out there.

For games, there's Green Domain and another. On the 5th floor onwards I think.

Stay off the second floor, I never ventured to any of the shops on that floor. Not even to the toilet.

Somehow, on second thought, I don't trust this post anymore.
1. He knows the names of the shop keepers. For some reason.
2. He believed that the person's name is really Ah Kow. WTF?
3. He's willing to pay $100 for FF7, even when there are lots of it going around cased in "EA Classics" boxes going for less than 1/3 the above quoted price.
4. I've never heard of anyone keying in NETS before seeing the goods.
5. FFIX was a shit game(even though I enjoyed it) and can no way go up to $299 nor $169. Any moron would realise that. In fact, it doesn't even cost $59. It's a freakin' PS1 game. Unless it's some limited edition FF7 game disc, otherwise, PS1 games can't even touch the edge of that price.

Clarify my doubts before you condemn a shop.
