    Cable I recommend canare/mogami cables with neutrik plugs. Around $25 for 3metres. Can go excelsior hotel shopping center get from luthermusic #02-08 or TYmusic centre #B1-32.

    Can also order customise length from them.

    Try to get 4 cored cables, dedicate 2 to the hot side and another 2 to the ground.

    Bass guitars generate high current signals, so it is good to increase the number of conductors to prevent loss of low frequency signals.
    Canare is good, made in japan. (i bet you guys just got your interests peaked just because of the term "japan")

    Custom order length @ luthermusic lo.

    Canare GS6 cable $4/metre. 10 metre $40.
    Neutrik NYS-224G gold plated straight plug $3.50 ea. (don't be misled by "gold plated", this the cheapest Neutrik plugs they stock) $7 for 2.
    $3 per cable for labour.

    So $50 for a 10 metre cable with 2 straight plugs.

    But check the value of your friend's cable first and see whether it's worth it or not... I remember music theme at excelsior hotel got sell proel cables la but dunno how much.
