Not going to care even if they put up the downloads for free. The scar is already there. and the audacity of Mediacorp to cooperate with them knowing how much of a scum they are. Thats one more company into my hate-list. Quote:

Channel 56 (Entertainment City)'s anime lineup is mostly done by Odex. Channel 84 (Animax), however, does their own subbing and dubbing. I can safely say that their dubbing studios are based in Australia(?) because I did not hear a hint of Singaporean accent (then again, I wasn't trained in acoustics and vocal recognition, so I might be wrong). Still, I can safely proclaim this: anime, as a hobby and a lifestyle, in Singapore, is dead. Period. Enjoy your capitalist crap. And this reminds me of a chapter in Matt Mason's The Pirate's Dilemma: "Keeping It Real." Cookie points if you can relate that chapter to this news.

If our hobby is really dead, how come there are more posts on anime in SGCafe than ever before? I remember when I was here maybe 1 and a half years back almost every thread was filled with Narutard-like discussions. We've come a long way from those days and I believe things will keep improving from here on, as long as youngsters continue to be more open-minded when using the internet. Of course, this open-mindedness can potentially lead to many other (moral) problems, but it will solve the older (close-mindedness) problems as well. So its overall a good thing. We'll just have to take it in our stride and advise the younger generation as things go along.
