If you guys have the time, you can start setting up your online portfolio liaoz. =) Look through your drawings / writings and pick the ones you feel can be shown in public. =) There're various sites where you can post your things for free. For instance: http://www.tokyopop.com http://www.freewebz.com http://www.blogger.com http://www.deviantart.com The thing is for you guys to show the world your talent so that people can start noticing even if it's just an amateur effort on your part. After you're done, don't forget to let me know so I can link your name to your portfolio. ^^ So ganbatte ne, minna-san!! =)

Not feeling confident enough to show the world your writing? Well, keep a journal then. It can be in the form of a physical journal or a blog. One thing to take note when writing is to write in full, grammatically correct sentences. Please don't write in singlish. It's not going to help you improve your writing skills. Yes, I know it's your journal and all but the main point is to hone your writing skills till they positively shine. "What do I write about?" You may ask, "My life is soooo boring." So is mine, actually. =) Observe your surroundings. Now, I'm not asking you to spy on your neighbours or something. It can be you sitting on the MRT and having nothing to do. Instead of nodding off, observe the people around you. Let your imagination run wild if possible and no yaoi or yuri please. Or any dirty stuff for that matter. =) The best way to start off a story plot, I personally feel, is to ask 'what if'. For example, let's say you're watching a slash teen flick ala 'I know what you did last summer': 'What if' the so-called 'victim' is actually a 100-year old soceress with great powers? Wouldn't it be fun to see the tables turned on the murderer for once? Something like that. Even if you can't come up with a story plot on the spot, you can always note down something that strikes you as strange, funny or even bizarre. "Today I saw a mother entertaining her daughter with a portable DVD player." Followed by your feelings about the incident. If you're posting on a public blog, do be careful in what you write coz it could come back to haunt you. Carry a notebook with you at all times so you can jot down your ideas whenever they strike you. When you're free, put them into soft copy and save it (as Zich sagely advised before ^^) because paper is not the most lasting thing in the world. Read as many books as possible. Be it fiction or books that teach you writing/manga. The library has a lot of such books so you don't have to pay a cent for it. ^^ And if I'm not wrong, there're certain periods of time when the library will allow you to borrow up to 8 books per card. =) Find out which are the authors or mangaka whose style you admire. Study their style but don't plagarize their work. Practise often and come up with your own unique style. ^^ Alrighty, that's all I can think of for the moment. Feel free to add your opinions! Sorry for always talking about writing...hehe...I'm a writer ne. But I feel story plots apply to manga plots as well...hehe...

haha, harenai, maybe I should have stressed that all writings here be kept as respectable as possible. A little love is fine but erm...not the other stuff...lol After all, we're all aiming to show our talent to the world, right? I don't think Singapore in general is ready to accept yaoi or yuri yet. =)
