c00kie>> I've read through the edit and I only have one issue to raise - Other than Pencil Leads, the rest uses " " to start a dialouge. I suppose we should stick to " " instead of ' '? (Is this a case of British and American style by the way? If it is I think I'd have to go back and standardise spellings as well.) P.S Thanks for the awesome notes you put in Moon>> Would you want to notify the writers that their works have been edited and if they want a copy of it?

zich: haha, I didn't send it to Losse, but I think I will, right now. (edit: okay, sent~) As for the quotation marks in dialogues, I think double quote marks are used predominantly both in the U.S and U.K, but some writers (mostly British) use single quote marks. Not sure about the origin and such though. But usually the publisher would simply decide on such stuff, so I think for the sake of consistency, we should as well. But gotta ask Pencil Leads first lar~ Haha, oh no, I can't remember whether I wrote in UK English or US English... x p gwah, I think we'll have to standardize that as well, though so far I think most of us wrote in US English since MS Word uses US English by default?

| Elite Member | In any case I'd do a third round to iron out any difference, in case there's any. Edit: Right now it's only Pencil Lead's issue with single quotes. Quote:

it's not near clarke quay. you'd walk your legs off going from clarke quay. Ummm... City hall, get out. while standing right in front of the turnstiles, facing the direction you came out from, turn left. then get out onto the street, next to St. Andrew's cathedral. walk towards the direction of funan, only that you turn left at very next road turning you come to. it's gonna be a weird road, with 3 lanes. one lane is very small, some like trolley-train stop point. keep walking until you reach the next T-section. then cross over to the old old looking building, that's the art gallery. NOT YOUR TARGET. Just keep walking down the sidewalk in front of the art gallery and then cross the road and you're there. kinda. it's a little more in. Google Maps

hihi for the sake of consistency i don't mind changing the single quotes to double quotes. i understand many people use double quotes, but it's just a habit of mine to use single ones. i am fine with changing them to double quotes. yups. Last edited by pencil-leads; 10-02-2010 at 01:01 AM. | |

| Elite Member | Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Schzool's Story: In between 'introduction' and valentine's day there is a set of stories which I have yet to typed in so here's a short summary - Rat found the class a clubroom, and the rest of schzool returned. The full attendance list is: Males: Zookeeper, Rat (outcast), Dog, Horse, Monkey (persistently annoying), Sloth (always stoning), Wolves (1 ~4). Females: Cat, Sheep, Bear (big sized girl), Fox (pretty and sly), Back story: Zookeeper had a crush on Fox years ago and confessed but was rejected. She dated another guy instead who later broke up with her and graduated before them. Since then Zookeeper had always hoped Fox could somehow reconsider him but at the same time it wasn't possible because of the first rejection. Schzool Valentine’s Day Special “Valentine’s day just two weeks away.” Foxy approached me one day in private, telling me this. I was baffled by her words; half hoping she was hinting me half knowing my hopes are just fantasies. “Let’s buy something for our class – you get for the girls, I’d get for the guys.” I nodded, “How are we giving them?” “Party, Schzool party,” She pat my shoulders, “don’t worry about things, just get the presents, I’d do the rest.” I raised an eyebrow incredulously. “I know where to find help.” But we never had a class party – was I dreaming again? I hope not. Just the thought of the meaning that particular day carries brings joy to my heart - not that all of us were attached to each other, mind you, it can be celebrated between good friends too. I don’t know how true that is; I only know Foxy proposed this idea to me and that’s the only thing in my mind. --- Maybe it’s our education system or maybe it’s the way we’re brought up – we only do things at the eleventh hour. OR maybe we’re such geniuses that we can do everything last minute and pull it off nicely. Anyways, it has been two weeks since Foxy first approached me; I feel so screwed now – the party is tomorrow. I ditched my plans to follow the wolves today on their quest for the maiden’s heart and headed to the nearest hypermart I knew. Hypermarts are amazing I tell you; you can find anything there – from toilet papers to live fishes. Anything but proper gifts. Then again, gifts don’t necessary have to be fancy and when ‘fancy’ meets ‘gift’, it spells ‘faint’ to the buyer. Being Valentine ’s Day doesn’t help much either so I reviewed the females in our class and grabbed whatever I thought suitable. I pray that no one murders me tomorrow. --- Foxy didn’t attend class today. Others didn’t think much about it but I knew where she was. While others unknowingly walked towards our club house, I slowed my pace hoping to catch their priceless, surprised expressions. Bear had the honours of opening the door and when she did, she stood stunned at the shiny decorations Foxy did. The others leapt, wriggled and pushed Bear aside to see what was there. Everyone was shocked but once they got over it, everyone had fun. The room burst with loud music and noisy youngsters letting themselves go – even Rat and Sloth joined in the party. I excused myself from all the noise as I retreated to a quiet corner just behind the clubhouse. Knowing my classmates were enjoying themselves was my greatest reward. “Hey,” Foxy called, “why are you sitting here?” I shrugged awkwardly and rose when she approached. Our gazes met each other, exchanging millions of subtle messages per second; so much so it was incomprehensible to our minds. She lunged forward; her arms slit under mine and wrapped me in her warmness. My limbs went cold as I had a blood rush up my face. I calmed down after a while but she refused to let go. Her soft body pressed against mine, our breaths synchronized into a melodious tune. “Thanks,” She said, finally. “For?” “Everything.” I take back my words, this is the greatest reward. --- Inside the club house our classmates were baffled conversations over their gifts. Bear was the first to open. “Bamboo?” She shot a questioning gaze at me, “Who told you bears eat bamboo?” I shrugged, “Wikipedia.” Sheep was delighted to find a ball of wool wrapped nicely wrapped while Cat gave me the questioning look when she found a can of whiskies in her gift box. I shrugged. The Wolves were indifferent to their gifts when they found sheep soft toys hidden within big wrapping papers but I could feel a sense of gratitude coming from them. Dog too, hid a smirk when he found a chewing bone in his gift. Sloth scratched his head at his box of leaves while Monkey jumped around jovially because he had a banana holder with a banana inside. “Where did you find that thing?” I whispered to Foxy. “Daiso, they sell all sorts of weird things there.” Finally Rat uncovered his mysteriously wrapped dull paper to find a small piece of ‘brie’. He was half smiling half pouting at the size of the cheese. I shot a questioning look at Foxy. “Hey!” She hissed, “these things don’t come cheap okay?” “Where’s my gift?” Horse asked. Foxy calmly pulled a ‘long cat electronic massager’ behind the sofa and wrapped it around Horse’s shoulder. “And this?” I asked. “Internet.”
