Nikon has finally announced the D7000, a whole huge bump on its specifications against the D90 and even a threat to the D300s. Mighty as it seems, we will let you decide if it is worthy for a buy.  In general, you are looking at a 16.2 megapixel CMOS sensor camera with DX-format (APS-C) camera.

It uses the new EXPEED 2 image-processing engine with a new 39-point AF system and groundbreaking new 2,016 pixel RGB 3D Matrix Metering System. Its ISO range can be expanded to a Hi-2 setting of 25,600. Video functionality is bumped up to support 1080/24p and 720/30p recording although recording is still capped at 20 minutes per video. It supports dual SD slot for more storage and able to capture photos at a rate of 6fps (up to 100 shots).

The D7000 will cost US$1,200 body-only and  US$1,500 with an 18-105 kit lens. Expect Singapore prices to come soon
